Stevensville, Ontario

If you need a break from urban lifestyles, the best thing to do is see the rural heritage that helped make Fort Erie what it is today.

Located to the Northwest of Fort Erie along Black Creek, is a community that appeared after the construction of the CN rail line which passes to the north and south.

With a slower pace and surrounded by peaceful countryside, Stevensville is a fair sized country village with several stores and restaurants, and is also a great place to experience the outdoors - its proximity to two railways has made the community a popular choice for industry - but Stevensville is not your ordinary village!

An interesting fact about Stevensville is that it's the birthplace of Canadian entrepreneur James L. Kraft, inventor of processed cheese and founder of the multimillion dollar J.L. Kraft & Bros. Company, which later became known as Kraft Foods Inc.

Take a walk on the Wild side at Safari Niagara, a 150-acre, privately-owned and operated nature park, home to more than 750 animals of native and exotic mammals, reptiles and birds.

Visitors of all ages and abilities can experience the park's inhabitants on their own or through:

  • free, educational guided walking tours
  • an educational, narrated tram ride/tour
  • interactive, educational demonstrations including birds of prey and threatened species presentations
  • petting farm yard
  • catch-and-release fishing

In addition, visitors can enjoy spending quality time with their families and friends at Safari Niagara by taking part in many activities including a ropes course, bungee, Safari Rides, paddle boating, kite-flying and playing at the large playgrounds, sandbox and animal-themed splash pad.

The park also includes an outdoor amphitheatre that is host to live concerts, including plenty of shaded picnic areas, a counter-service restaurant and gift shop.
